The Research and Development Working Group (RDWG), co-chaired by the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) and Business Mauritius (BM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation (MoTCI), is inviting prospective applicants to submit proposals under the PoIGS. Eligible applicants include local academic and research institutions, both public and private as well as relevant Ministries/Parastatal bodies.
The indicative list of priority areas is as follows:
1. Renewable Energy
2. Ocean/Marine Technology, Resources and Services
3. ICT/BPO/Telecommunications (including High Performance Computing and Cloud Computing)
4. Life Sciences (including Health, Medical, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology)
5. Manufacturing and Food Processing
6. Social Sciences
7. Sustainable Tourism
Proposals which do not fall under the above list but which address areas of importance will be considered subject to clear justification of the proposed theme is provided.
The RDWG anticipates awarding a matching grant of up to Rs 9M per project to successful applicants for a duration up to a maximum of 36 months, with an annual maximum ceiling of Rs 3M.
Expression of Interest
Prospective applicants are requested to forward their proposals to the Council using appropriate templates and guidelines which can be downloaded from the MRC Website.
Only applications/proposals which are submitted to the Council using appropriate templates and guidelines will be considered.
Effective Date and Deadline
Under this scheme, applications can be submitted during specific Calls for Proposal.
For this Call for Proposals applications should reach the Council at latest by Thursday 15th March 2018 at 15.00 hrs. Applications should be forwarded to the Executive Director of the MRC in an envelope clearly labeled “Call for Proposals – PoIGS” on the top right-hand side.
Awards will be made on the merits of the proposal and on a competitive basis.
