The Mauritius Research Council (MRC), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation, is the apex body for the promotion and coordination of Government investment in research and innovation.
The Council invites enterprises, entrepreneurs, researchers, as well as institutions, to submit applications under the Proof of Concept Scheme (PCS).
The aim of the PCS is to assist innovators in advancing their research outputs and ideas with a view to developing prototypes, establishing proof of concept and validating business cases.
Applications for the above scheme should be in line with the following priority areas:
Renewable Energy; Ocean Technology, Ocean Resources and Ocean Services; ICT/BPO/Telecommunications; Life Sciences (Health, Medical and Pharmaceutical); Manufacturing; Traffic Management; Social Issues; and Agro-Industry.
Selection for funding will be based on the originality, intellectual merit, provisions for collaboration and capacity building, and the potential for developing innovative technology-based ideas for either new or improved industry-oriented products, processes or services that can enhance socio-economic benefits in the Republic of Mauritius.
The ‘Guidelines to Applicants’ provides relevant details on the Proof of Concept, as well as the process for the operation, management and monitoring of the Scheme, and includes the Application Form.
