The Mauritius Research Council, a statutory body falling under the aegis of the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation, is being fundamentally reviewed and restructured to transform it into the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), as announced in the Budget Speech 2017/2018.
In this context, a draft MRIC Bill has been worked out to enable the Council operate with a broader and more effective mandate with regard to the promotion of innovation, as well as be more responsive to new technological challenges. The new MRIC will play a pivotal role at the heart of the innovation system, with a wider range of functions for implementation of research and innovation programmes across both public and private sectors.
A copy of the draft version of the MRIC Bill has been uploaded on the websites of the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation on the following URL: http://mtci.govmu.org
and the Mauritius Research Council for public consultation.
