The World Intellectual Property Day, held every year on the 26th of March, is an opportunity to sensitise and to educate people on the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) in fostering an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. This year’s theme identified by World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), ‘Powering Change; Women in Innovation and Creativity’ has been chosen to celebrate the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future.
To mark this event, the MRC is organizing a full-day workshop to celebrate the World IP Day, highlighting the growing role of women in Innovation and Creativity.
The MRC has invited Mrs Clare Saunders from the UK Intellectual Property Office (UK-IPO) to participate in this event. Clare Saunders has worked at the UK-IPO for the last 4 years. She is the Head of Business Outreach and Digital Content for the UK-IPO, helping to deliver face to face and digital events for business owners to assist them make informed decisions about how best to protect the IP in their businesses. She is also responsible for the UK-IPO's digital content including social media channels and web content. Mrs Saunders is passionate about Gender Equality and is the current chair of the UK-IPO's Women's Network.
